Taylor Voted Coach of the Year as CHS Baseball Team Snags 8 All-District Selections

Cleburne junior second baseman Javier Torres was named the offensive player of the year after he hit .410 with 12 RBIs and 16 runs scored in 14 district games.
Cleburne freshman catcher Slayton Day was voted the newcomer of the year. Day wasn’t only a weapon offensively with a .333 batting average, .538 slugging percentage and eight RBIs in 14 games, but he was huge defensively behind the plate as he caught eight runners stealing and didn’t commit a single error in league action.
Taylor, who recorded career coaching win No. 600 this season, was voted the district’s coach of the year for the umpteenth time during his two-decade career with the Jackets.
Pitcher Willie Rangel was a unanimous first-team selection.  Joining Rangel on the first team for Cleburne are senior center fielder Spencer Suitt, senior third baseman Tristan Wilson and junior pitcher and first baseman Landon Cody.
Cleburne senior Coultane Brown was a second-team selection on the all-district team.
